Best known of legendary horses is Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology. He is said to have sprung from the blood of Medusa and was caught with the help of a magic bridle made of gold. His rider, Bellerophon, tried to take Pegasus to heaven. But this angered Zeus, the chief of the gods, and he sent a fly to sting Pegasus. Bellerophon fell to earth but Pegasus flew on and became a constellation in the night sky.
