Flicka is the horse heroine of 'My Friend Flicka', a book written by Mary O'Hara about the love of a boy for his horse. The setting is a ranch in Wyoming and the book gives a vivid picture of domesticating and training wild horses in the West just before the Second World War. The book is beautifully written and well worth reading. No longer in print, it can be found in second-hand book shops.
